Plot Details
Following the revelation that Dexter survived his near-fatal shooting in New Blood, which opens a brand-new chapter in the prequel series Original Sin, Dexter: Resurrection begins.
The series “takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan takes a bullet to the chest from his own son [in New Blood], as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison gone without a trace,” stated the official synopsis provided by Showtime/Paramount+.
It goes on: “Dexter decides to go to New York City in order to find his son and make amends after realizing the burden he caused him. But it won’t be simple to find closure.
“Dexter realizes his history is quickly catching up with him when Angel Batista from Miami Metro shows up with questions. Father and son soon discover that they are deeper than they ever thought they would be and that the only way out is to work together as they negotiate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps.
Longtime viewers will recall that Dexter begged his son Harrison to murder him in the New Blood finale of 2022 because he thinks that his violent acts will only continue as long as he is alive.
However, the opening sequence of Original Sin, which frames the prequel as memories flying through the Dexter’s head while he receives urgent medical care, shows that the supposedly deadly shot to the chest turns out to be a near-miss.
