“Jurassic World Rebirth” is Tracking a $100M+ Holiday Opening at the Box Office

Jurassic World: Rebirth, the upcoming sequel to the Jurassic Park franchise, will tell a brand-new tale with new characters in a brand-new location, yet it will be closely tied to its predecessors.

Five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, Jurassic World: Rebirth centers on a group of scientists who decide to gather DNA for innovative medical research from a secluded island that has been overrun by dinosaurs.

Release Details

The estimated opening budget for Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth during the five-day holiday period is between $120 million and $125 million. The film opens on Wednesday, July 2, in North America. Universal and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin, the company behind the multibillion-dollar franchise, are attempting to control expectations by emphasizing that the film may end up costing between $90 million and $100 million.

Production & Direction

David Koepp, the man behind Jurassic Park and its 1997 follow-up, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, wrote the script for the seventh Jurassic, which Gareth Edwards directed. According to Universal sources, the movie cost a net $180 million before marketing, which is significantly less than the previous two films.

Only a few dinosaurs survive in Jurassic World Rebirth and live in specialized biospheres, but three of them are in possession of a potentially life-saving medication. Zora Bennett (Johansson), a specialist in clandestine operations, tries to protect the genetic material from the dinosaurs but finds herself marooned with a civilian family on an island that has a secret that has been concealed from humanity for decades.
