Sinners, which is set in the American South in the early 1930s, follows the Smokestack brothers, who are both portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, as they travel to their homeland of Mississippi to plan a lively celebration and musical evening at a nearby juke joint. However, when a party of vampire hunters tries to brutally interrupt the festivities, what starts off as a positive gathering of Black pride and community swiftly devolves into chaos.

Directorial Excellence

Jordan’s two performances, Coogler’s directing, and the film’s great soundtrack have all received high appreciation.

Release Date and Streaming Platfrom

HBO Max will start streaming Sinners on Friday, July 4, 2025. The film will start showing on HBO’s cable networks the next day, on July 5, 2025, for anyone who prefer to watch it that way.

Star-Studded Cast Announcement

Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, and Jayme Lawson are all part of Jordan’s formidable group.

Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who previously worked on “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” made history with “Sinners” by using 70mm Imax film for the film’s production.

Box Office Performance

“Sinners” made $45 million domestically in its second weekend at the box office, a remarkable 6% decrease from its first weekend total. Despite reportedly spending $90 million on production, the movie has made over $360 million so far.

Given that Coogler’s earlier films, Creed and Black Panther, were nominated for Oscars, the film was dubbed “the first Oscar movie of 2025” following its impressive box office run.
