Lionsgate has announced four new cast members for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the next prequel movie. Rada Rae, Jhaleil Swaby, Laura Marcus, and Percy Daggs IV have all formally joined the group, bringing new talent to the eagerly awaited Hunger Games film.

Who has joined the Reaping cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise?

The new cast announcements include Jhaleil Swaby (The Lake, Supergirl) as Panache, another career tribute from District 1, Laura Marcus (Andor), who will play Silka, a career tribute from District 1, and Percy Daggs IV (Never Let Go) as Beetee’s son, a tribute from District 3.

Leading the cast of Sunrise on the Reaping are Joseph Zada as a younger Haymitch Abernathy, Jesse Plemons as a younger Plutarch Heavensbee, and Whitney Peak, who will portray Haymitch’s girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the cinematic version of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, is presently in pre-production and is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.

Directed by

Francis Lawrence, who has directed several of the franchise’s earlier installments, is directing the Hunger Games prequel film. The film is being produced by Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson, with executive producer Cameron MacConomy.

The script for Sunrise on the Reaping is being written by Billy Ray. Ray wrote the screenplay for the first Hunger Games film, which came out in 2012. He was nominated for an Oscar for writing Captain Phillips in 2013.
