Synopsis

De Niro plays two distinct characters in The Alto Knights: Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two notorious New York crime lords who compete for dominance of the city’s streets but end up on a deadly collision course due to their divergent routes to power (see the synopsis below). The movie is based on a true incident that solidified itself as a brutal chapter in mafia history. During their decades-long conflict, the real-life pair had numerous run-ins with the law, served time in prison, and eventually suffered fatal heart attacks.
