In October, Depeche Mode: M, their concert film, will have a limited cinema run.

Tickets for the concert documentary, which documents the band’s three 2023 Mexico City performances at Estadio GNP Seguros (then known as Foro Sol), go on sale on the film’s website on September 17 and will be available in theaters and IMAX starting on October 28. The movie will be shown in more than 2,500 theaters and is being distributed by Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing.

One of the numerous music-related films that dominated this year’s film festival was Depeche Mode: M, which had its initial presentation at Tribeca back in June. Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías de la Parra, whose past works include the critically acclaimed I’m No Longer Here and I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe mE, directed the film.

In a statement, Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode explained, “Our new film ‘M’ is fundamentally about the profound relationship between music, culture, and people—and Fernando Frías, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City.”

The Memento Mori Tour, the band’s first tour since keyboardist Andy Fletcher’s passing in 2022, included Depeche Mode’s performances in Mexico. That tour sold over 3 million tickets during 112 performances in 2023 and 2024.

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, explained in a statement, “We are thrilled to carry on our long-standing partnership with Sony Music Vision and IMAX to deliver Depeche Mode: M to audiences around the world in October.” “The Memento Mori Tour and Depeche Mode’s strong bond with their global fan base are perfectly celebrated in this cinematic experience.”
