The Life Of Chuck, a new Stephen King adaptation that will be a hot package at the upcoming Cannes market, will star Tom Hiddleston (Thor franchise) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars).

Together with fellow producer Trevor Macy, Doctor Sleep and The Haunting Of Hill House helmer Mike Flanagan is directing, writing, and producing for Intrepid Pictures.

WME Independent will handle domestic sales, while FilmNation will handle international sales.

In view of the short story from King’s 2020 anthology, If It Bleeds, The Life of Chuck is three separate stories connected to tell the life story of Charles Krantz in reverse, starting with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and finishing with his experience growing up in an evidently haunted house.

The script, which was adapted prior to the WGA strike, has been in progress for a considerable length of time with Hiddleston set to play the title character and Hamill joining for the role of Albie.

The tone of the genre film will be influenced by Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile, according to the production.

Hiddleston won a Golden Globe and an Olivier Award for her roles in Thor, Avengers, and The Night Manager, as well as Ken Branagh’s stage productions of Betrayal and Hamlet.

Hamill is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars films. He also played the role in the sequels, season one of The Book of Boba Fett, and the second season of The Mandalorian. He last appeared in Netflix’s Sandman and will star in Sony Pictures’ upcoming The Machine, Intrepid, and Netflix’s House Of Usher later this year.

One of the authors with the most bestsellers is Stephen King, better known as “The King of Horror.” Carrie, The Shining, Pet Sematary, It, Stand By Me, The Running Man, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile are just a few of his short stories and books that have been made into successful movies.

FilmNation’s Cannes market slate now includes this latest project. The Invite, a comedy starring Paul Rudd and Amy Adams, The Cooler, an action movie starring Dave Bautista, and Andrew Garfield’s Voyagers are also on the schedule.
