Shimla and Bollywood have a long history together, going all the way back to the black and white days. Shimla has been the location of hundreds of films, but these are a few of the most well-known Bollywood blockbusters that were filmed there and showcased Shimla’s breathtaking beauty.

The Tamasha Movie (2015)

There were several breathtakingly beautiful shots of Shimla in the Tamasha movie. Imtiaz Ali directed the film Tamasha, which starred Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapur in the key roles. The film included a number of exquisitely rendered locations, including Kolkata, Corsica, Delhi, Gurgaon, and Shimla. Ranbir Kapur portrays a young man from Shimla in the movie who later moves to Delhi in search of employment. Scenes from the movie were filmed at Toy Train, Summer Hill, and Jakhu Temple in Shimla. Bang Bang (2014)

A brief portion of Siddharth Anand’s film “Bang Bang,” which stars Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, was filmed in Shimla. The film’s filming locations were just as important as its intriguing plot in drawing in viewers. The Ritz and Town Hall served as the film’s locations for several scenes. Farhan and Raju dash to meet Rancho when they learn that Chatur has seen him. Rancho’s adopted family pays him a visit in his palace; they reside in Shimla. But when they discovered Rancho had moved to Ladakh, they were unable to continue.

Jab We Met (2007)

The majority of the filming for the song “Aaoge Jab Tum” from the amazing movie Jab We Met took place on Shimla Mall Road. The director, Imtiaz Ali, effectively captured the essence of the song by utilizing the setting. The extended family of the Geet character resides in Punjab, where portions of the movie were also filmed. Every site was used to film Jab We Met, and as a result, every location has significance to the movie.

Black (2005)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s inspiring film Black is another masterpiece that was filmed in the breathtaking town of Shimla. The main actors in this movie are Nandana Sen, Ayesha Kapur, Rani Mukharji, and Amitabh Bachan. The protagonist Michelle McNally’s house, Woodville Palace in Shimla, was the location of most of the film’s shooting.
