The Office’s spiritual successor, “The Paper,” a new mockumentary series about Peacock, will debut on September 4. The first four episodes of the series will premiere, and through September 25, two new episodes will be released every Thursday.
“A historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher attempting to revive it are discovered by the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, who are looking for a new subject.”
Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez (repeating his role from “The Office”), Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key are among the cast members of the show.
The Toledo Truth-Teller’s offices serve as the setting for the show, according to a clip shown at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation. As they move around the room, the documentary crew reveals that Oscar (Nuñez) is now employed by the paper as an accountant. Seeing the doc crew again makes him unhappy. Gleeson portrays an optimistic new hire, and Impacciatore plays the managing editor.
The show was co-created by Michael Koman and Greg Daniels, who created “The Office” for American television. Alongside “The Office” creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (previously Reveille), both are executive producers. The studio is Universal Television.
The American “Office” followed the employees of the paper company Dundler Mifflin and was set in Scranton, Pennsylvania. B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Steve Carell were among the actors who starred in it. Long after it was taken off the air, the show continued to be popular, and when it was made accessible for streaming, it gained fresh life.
