In the 11-episode criminal drama Low Life, which takes place in Korea in the 1970s, Ryu Seungryong makes a comeback to Disney+. Oh Gwanseok, a crafty hustler, and his nephew, Oh Heedong (Yang Sejong), are the focus of the story as they pursue wealth. The pair sets off on a high-stakes quest after learning of a sunken treasure ship off the coast of Korea. They compete against other hunters in an exciting race for wealth.

Writer-director by

Writer-director Kang Yunsung, who previously directed “The Outlaws” and the Disney+ blockbuster “Big Bet,” is the creator of “Low Life.” Lim Soojung (“Melancholia,” “Single in Seoul”) also plays Yang Jungsook in the series.

Cast

Yang Sejong, who has starred in “Doona!” and “Temperature of Love,” portrays the nephew who gets entangled in his uncle’s plots and the high-stakes treasure search.

A nostalgic backdrop for the high-stakes adventure is provided by the 1970s setting of “Low Life,” which draws inspiration from the popular Korean movie heritage of heist and crime capers through its treasure-hunting premise.

“Low Life” is part of Disney+’s impressive 2025 lineup of Korean original films. The serial killer thriller “Hyper Knife” and “Nine Puzzles,” which became the most-watched Korean drama of 2025 on Disney+, have already achieved popularity on the site this year.

Disney+ will release more Korean content later this year, such as “Made In Korea,” which stars Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung, and “Tempest,” which stars Gianna Jun, Gang Dongwon, and John Cho.

Low Life Release Date

On July 16, “Low Life” will start with three episodes. After that, it will air two episodes every week until its two-part finale on August 13.
