Sony Pictures Classics’ R-rated drama Daddio, starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, has officially found a new streaming home on Hulu.

Film Overview

Christy Hall wrote and directed Daddio. Johnson portrays Girlie, a young lady in the movie who unexpectedly develops a deep bond with her cab driver through a profound chat. Based on 114 reviews, the film has maintained its Certified Fresh score of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes since its international premiere at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival. At 89%, its Popcornmeter score is marginally higher.

Storyline

“New York City. JFK airport. A young woman jumps into the backseat of a yellow taxi, the cabbie throws the vehicle into drive as the two head out into the night toward Manhattan, striking up the most unexpected conversation, resulting in a single, epic, remarkable journey,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

Hall, Johnson, Ro Donnelly, Terry Dougas, and Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis produced the R-rated drama picture. Max Work, Kostas Tsoukalas, Jean-Luc De Fanti, and Christopher Donnelly served as executive producers. What’s Next for the Cast

Johnson’s most recent role was in the romantic comedy Materialists, which was released on A24 and starred Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. Colleen Hoover’s 2018 thriller novel Verity will soon be adapted into a movie starring Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett. Penn’s performance in the 2025 film One Battle After Another earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
