‘Bugonia’: Upcoming Movie Release Date and More Details

Director Yorgos Lanthimos and actress Emma Stone’s most recent project, “Bugonia,” will debut earlier than expected.

Bugonia Movie Release Date

The film will be screened in select theaters on October 24 and released nationally on October 31. That is a bit early in relation to the original November 7 release date. Focus Features is releasing “Bugonia” in the US and Canada, while Universal Pictures, the parent company of the specialized studio, will handle international distribution.

Storyline

“Bugonia,” a remake of the South Korean sci-fi comedy “Save the Green Planet,” revolves around two conspiracy-obsessed friends who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major corporation because they are convinced she’s an alien intent on destroying Earth.

Cast

Alongside Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone, Jesse Plemons, who collaborated with Stone and Lanthimos on “Kinds of Kindness,” is in the major role.

Producer and Director

Will Tracy, whose credits include “The Menu” and “Succession,” wrote the script that Lanthimos is directing. Following “Poor Things,” “The Favourite,” and “Kinds of Kindness,” Stone and Lanthimos produced their most recent collaboration through their respective businesses, Fruit Tree and Pith. Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of CJ ENM, Ari Aster and Lars Knusden of Square Peg, and Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures are also producers.

Focus Features emerged victorious in a bidding war for “Bugonia,” marking a change for Lanthimos after Searchlight released his last three films: “The Favourite” (2018), “Poor Things” (2023), and “Kinds of Kindness” (2024). Prior to that, A24 distributed “The Lobster” (2015) and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” (2017).
