Kingdom of Heaven (2005) is being re-released as a stunning 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook edition, complete with a fully restored and remastered director’s cut and a plethora of special features.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook of Kingdom of Heaven will be released on May 27. Gladiator II is now streaming on Paramount+.Alien: Romulus is streaming on Hulu.

Plot

Ridley Scott (Gladiator) directed the historical war epic which is a mainly fictionalized portrayal of what happened leading up to the Third Crusade. The film stars Orlando Bloom as Balian of Ibelin, who fights to defend the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem from the Sultan Saladin, played by Ghassan Massoud.

Kingdom of Heaven stars Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons, Edward Norton, Kevin McKidd (Grey’s Anatomy), Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), and Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).

The film, written by William Monahan (The Departed), has a 39% Rotten Tomatoes score among critics yet a 72% audience rating on the review aggregator. The audience score is based on over 250,000 ratings. Kingdom of Heaven grossed $218.2 million worldwide on a budget of $130 million.

Ridley Scott’s latest projects

Ridley Scott is now executive producing the Apple TV+ crime thriller series Dope Thief, which stars Brian Tyree Henry, Wagner Moura, and Martin Ireland. The series is in the middle of its first season. Scott also produced 2024’s smash Alien: Romulus and directed the 2024 Gladiator sequel, Gladiator II, which was nominated for an Academy Award.
