“Hexed,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming original movie, has been revealed. Disney Animation Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush unveiled the project at Orlando’s Destination D23. Jason Hand (“Moana 2”) and Josie Trinidad (“Zootopia+”) will direct the movie, while Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones will serve as producers.
“An awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom discover that what makes him unusual might just be magical powers that will turn their lives and a secret world of magic, upside down,” is the official logline for “Hexed.”
Pixar, Disney’s sister company, also gave a preview of their upcoming original comedy “Hoppers,” which is scheduled to be released in theaters in March 2026, during the presentation.
Plot
The “action adventure” centers on Mabel, a college student who loves the outdoors and whose goal of reintroducing the animals to a glade that holds great significance for her conflicts with the mayor’s proposal to construct a highway through it. Wild surprises are in store when she is able to “hop” into the body of a robotic beaver thanks to modern technology.
Stars
Nicole Paradis Grindle will produce, and Daniel Chong (“We Bare Bears: The Movie”) will direct. Starring are Piper Curda from “I Didn’t Do It” and Bobby Moynihan from “Saturday Night Live.”
Other Projects
During Destination D23, further projects were hinted at, including “Toy Story 5,” “Tron: Ares,” “Zootopia 2,” and “Ice Age: Boiling Point.”
