Marvel Delay the Release of “Secret Wars” and “Avengers: Doomsday”

The upcoming two Avengers movies have been officially delayed by Marvel. Now, the much awaited films will be released in theaters during consecutive Christmas seasons.

Avengers: Secret Wars will now open on December 17, 2027, rather than May 7, 2027, while Avengers: Doomsday will now be released in theaters on December 18, 2026, instead of May 1, 2026.

Seven years after the release of Avengers: Endgame, the fifth superhero film in the series will be released.

Robert Downey Jr., star of Iron Man, was set to return to the Avengers universe in July, but this time he would play the villain Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.

In Endgame, his Iron Man/Tony Stark persona perished. At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the actor declared, “New mask, same task.”

Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man are among the original Avengers cast members who will return for the upcoming movie, it was confirmed in March.

Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright’s Shuri, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s antagonist Namor from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Kelsey Grammer’s Hank McCoy/Beast, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost, and Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier/Professor X are among the new superheroes joining the Avengers cast.

Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, the main characters of the forthcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, are all joining the Avengers lineup. Lewis Pullman, who will debut in Thunderbolts in May as Robert Reynolds/Sentry, will also do so.

James Marsden’s Scott Summers/Cyclops; Alan Cumming, who played Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler in 2003’s X2: X-Men United; Rebecca Romijn, who created the character of Mystique; Ian McKellen, who starred as Magneto in multiple X-Men films; and Channing Tatum, a recent Marvel star who debuted as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine.
