The next big pan-Indian movie from Tollywood, Kalki 2898 AD, has the highest budget of any movie in Indian theaters. With a massive star cast that includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, and many more in significant cameo roles, the film is slated to be a multi-part series.

There has been a lot of talk that the movie is based on Hindu epics, specifically on the tale of Kalki, Lord Vishnu’s tenth avatar, who is supposed to arrive at the end of Kali Yuga to vanquish evil. Seven Chiranjeevis, including Ashwatthama, Parashurama, Hanuman, and others, are said to be alive and waiting for Kalki in the epics.

In a recent interview with the media, Nag Ashwin formally unveiled the film’s theme, revealing that it will take place between the years 2898 and the Mahabharata period. Thus, “Kalki 2898 AD” was selected as the title.

Although Prabhas’s identity as Vishnu’s avatar Kalki was not made clear, it was alluded to in passing. It is anticipated that this epic plot will rock the Indian box office. The trailer is anticipated to be released in the first week of April, and the team intends to begin full promotions in March. The release date of the movie is set for May 9.
