The finale of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game, which is the third and last chapter on Netflix, is dramatic and emotionally stirring. As Seong Gi-hun (Player 456) returns to the deadly competition, the six-episode season follows him—not as a desperate competitor, but as a man determined to overthrow the system from within. The scene is set for a suspenseful conclusion, but his insurrection fails as his attempts to rally supporters and spoil the game fail miserably.

A Predicted Carnage in the Last Episode

Actress Chae Kuk-hee, who plays the spooky prophet-like shaman Seon-nyeo, reportedly hinted that no participant will survive, according to Netflix Tudum. In the last episode, her terrifying prophecy comes true. All of the initial competitors meet a horrible end in Season 3, Episode 6. Among them is Gi-hun, who solidifies his status as the tragic hero of the show by giving his life to overthrow the established order.

In a shocking turn of events, the final victor isn’t a competitor in the games but rather Jun-hee’s (Jo Yuri) unborn kid, whose child is first shown in Episode 2. The infant stands for a sliver of purity surviving in a world full of treachery and blood.

Ali Abdul: The Too-Easily Trusting Heart

One of the most likable characters in Season 1 was Ali Abdul (Anupam Tripathi), a Pakistani immigrant trying to establish a life for his family in South Korea. Ali, who is diligent, kind, and incredibly trustworthy, makes friends with Gi-hun before putting his faith in Sang-woo. However, Sang-woo tricks Ali and takes his marbles during the marbles game, ensuring his death. Unaware of his fate, Ali’s relief-filled smile is still one of the show’s most agonizing scenes.

The Last Game of the Charismatic Recruiter

Gong Yoo quickly became a fan favorite for his portrayal of the mysterious recruiter. Viewers are treated to a more in-depth exploration of his role in Season 2. When he and Gi-hun play a lethal game of Russian roulette, the suspense reaches its climax. In the end, Gi-hun outsmarts him, which is the first significant death of a game administration official. Gi-hun’s revolt starts at this point, marking a sea change.

Se-Mi: A Brave Voice Silenced

In a morally failing group headed by the violent rapper Thanos (Choi Seung-hyun), Won Ji-an’s Se-Mi served as a ray of hope. She frequently protected the timid Min-su (Lee Da-wit), yet unlike her companions, she never succumbed to abuse. Sadly, Min-su lives by hiding amid a wild riot, while Se-Mi is killed while defending others. The sadness of virtue being extinguished in an unfair world is highlighted by her death.

Ji-yeong: An Altruistic Farewell

During the marbles challenge, Ji-yeong (Player 240) quickly yet deeply bonds with Kang Sae-byeok. Ji-yeong comes to the realization that Sae-byeok has more to live for as they talk about their pasts. Ji-yeong gives up the game in a selfless deed, accepting death in order to give her new acquaintance a chance at a better life. One of the most moving scenes in the show is her calm bravery.

Kang Sae-byeok: A Short Dream

The way that Hoyeon portrayed North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok won people over all over the world. She makes a promise to Gi-hun to safeguard each other’s loved ones since she is determined to be with her family again. However, in a moment of treachery, Sang-woo kills her after she suffers serious injuries. Her tragic passing serves as a heartbreaking reminder that even the highest aspirations can be dashed.

Han Mi-nyeo: Punishment Without Restitution

During a crucial game, Jang Deok-su, a gangster without regret, throws out Han Mi-nyeo, his sweetheart and teammate. Mi-nyeo, however, waits. She challenges Deok-su in the well-known Glass Stepping Stones challenge and drags him down with her, sending them both plummeting to their deaths. A fitting conclusion to one of the most dramatic character arcs in the series, her retaliation is both unexpected and strangely satisfying.

A Bloody Goodbye Inscribed in Memory

Instead of ending on a hopeful note, Squid Game’s third season ends on an unsettling note after a storm of grief. The finale leaves a terrible legacy, showcasing both the finest and worst of humanity when pushed to the limit, with Gi-hun’s sacrifice and the innocent infant left behind.
