The 2013 video game of the same name serves as the basis for the upcoming HBO Max series The Last of Us. The adventures of Joel, a smuggler played by Pedro Pascal, and Ellie, a teen girl played by Bella Ramsey, will be the focus of the series. A deadly fungus ravages a post-apocalyptic world that the duo must navigate.

In addition to the show, HBO Max has announced a new way for fans to catch up on all things The Last of Us. A companion podcast for the series has been revealed by the television network. Troy Baker, the original voice actor for Joel in The Last of Us, will serve as the podcast’s host.

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the show’s creators, will join Baker for a scene-by-scene analysis of each episode. Mazin was a member of the show’s companion podcast as well as working on HBO’s Chernobyl.

The first nine episodes of HBO’s The Last of Us will air on HBO Max and HBO on January 15, 2023. The show will be available on Disney+ Hotstar, just like a lot of the country’s HBO library.

The video game Last of Us was created by Druckmann and the Insidious Canine studio. The series, in which composer Gustavo Santaolalla reprises his role, is said to be the largest television production in Canadian history.
