The Walking Dead spinoff Dead City, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, has received official approval for a third season from AMC. Returning as Negan and Maggie, the pair navigates survival and reconstruction in the post-apocalyptic Manhattan ruins.

Plot Direction for Season 3

Eli Jorné, who oversaw Dead City for the first two seasons, will be replaced as showrunner by franchise veteran Seth Hoffman in season three. The third season’s production is scheduled to start in Boston in the fall.

During the prime of seasons four, five, and six of The Walking Dead, Hoffman wrote ten episodes as a writer and co-executive producer.

Following Maggie’s decision to set aside her long-standing resentment toward Negan in the second season finale, season three will begin. “Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse,” according to AMC’s description of the upcoming season. “But when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: Have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?”

Timeline for Production

Alongside Gimple, Morgan, Cohan, Brian Bockrath, and Colin Walsh, the chief content officer of the TWD series, Hoffman will executive produce season three.

Hoffman has contributed as a writer and producer to Prison Break, House, and Tell Me Your Secrets on Prime Video in addition to his work on The Walking Dead. He is repped by CAA and Hansen Jacobson.
