Although Tesla is the most well-known brand in the world of electric cars, BYD Auto (Build Your Dream), a Chinese company, is leading the pack. In terms of worldwide sales, BYD outpaced Tesla in 2018. The Seal EV, the EV company based in Shenzen, is set to make its Indian debut on March 5. The Seal EV’s sweeping design creates a significant fashion statement. Consequently, its remarkable aero drag coefficient of 0.219Cd is achieved. The EV sedan is longer than the Toyota Innova Crysta, measuring 4,800mm in length and 2,920mm in wheelbase. The Seal EV measures 1,875 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, respectively. It has a 400-liter boot and a 53-liter freight capacity in the trunk. e-Platform 3.0 is the foundation of the e-sedan.

BYD Seal EV: Characteristics

A 10.25-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system are located in the Seal EV’s cabin. Advanced driver assistance features like Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, etc. are included, along with an all-glass roof and heated front seats.

BYD Seal EV: Performance

An 82kWh battery with a 570 km WLTP range is anticipated to power the Seal EV. Its total output is 523bhp and 670Nm, with two motors per axle providing power. With a top speed of 180 kmph, the Seal all-wheel-drive system can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds. It takes 26 minutes to juice up from 30% to 80% with a 150 kW DC charger.

Expected to retail for approximately Rs 50 lakh, the Seal is a direct import electric vehicle. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 will be competitors for the BYD EV sedan.
