Friday was Salaar’s (Hindi) arrival day, while Thursday was Dunki’s release date. The two films entered a competitive market and began to battle it out from this point on.

The heat was felt even on weekdays, and this persisted until the long weekend when Christmas fell on Monday. Both films would have done better individually if they had been released separately, but together, their total box office receipts come to almost Rs. 20 crores.

First, let’s discuss Dunki. When compared to Friday’s earnings of Rs. 20.12 crores, the movie did see a 50% decline. Naturally, on Thursday, when the total stood at Rs. 29.20 crores, the movie had made much more money. That makes the drop even greater when taken into account.

The movie’s collections have already increased significantly, which is ultimately what counts most to the people who have already paid for it, so the Thursday release is also advantageous in that regard. The movie’s total has now reached 133.50 crores, with 9.75 crores more expected on Tuesday. By Thursday, it will easily exceed Rs. 150 crores.

But, in just five days, Salaar (Hindi) has amassed Rs. 74 crores*. In comparison, Tuesday’s collections of Rs. 9 crores showed a strong hold. The film had earned Rs. 15.50 crores on Friday. Naturally, bulk reservations are available for specific performances at a few theaters around the nation if one looks at booking apps.

The makers have the right to decide if that is corporate booking or something else. In the end, though, ticket sales are what generate the revenue. Though it is possible that the Prabhas movie will eventually earn Rs. 150 crores, one can only hope that this is only a temporary solution given that the film has already found a respectable foothold among its target demographic.
