Tollywood had a decent first quarter for 2024. Sankranthi witnessed a tough fight and Hanuman was the surprise. The film emerged as a massive hit despite releases like Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav and Naa Saami Ranga. Prasanth Varma and Teja Sajja gained star status with the film’s success. Mahesh Babu managed to pull the crowds with Guntur Kaaram and Trivikram’s work was badly criticized. Considering the financials involved, the film cannot be called a hit. Venkatesh took action mode and his film Saindhav ended up as a massive debacle. Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga managed to bring audience to the theatres during the Sankranthi season.

None of the low-budget movies that came out after Sankranthi were well-received by the public. Yatra 2 did not receive a minimum number of people. Through Eagle, Ravi Teja caused one more calamity. With Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, Sundeep Kishan produced a passable hit. The audience was not impressed by Ravi Teja’s production Sundaram Master, which starred Viva Harsha. Chari 111, an intriguing attempt by Vennela Kishore, was a complete failure. Operation Valentine was another misstep by Varun Tej. The audience reacted negatively to the film.

In spite of a respectable start, Gopichand’s big-budget picture Bhimaa was a complete failure due to bad word of mouth. Appreciated by critics, Vishwak Sen’s Gaami had a respectable box office run. Despite the positive reviews Razakar received, the movie was not well received by the audience. Om Bheem Bush, a film directed by Sree Vishnu, turned out to be mediocre. Tillu Square, directed by Siddhu Jonnalagadda, is a huge hit and is still running. Tillu Square marked a wonderful way to end March.

The youth were impressed by Premalu, one of the dubbed movies that did well at the box office in cities. The Malayalam film was released in Telugu by SS Karthikeya, the son of Rajamouli.
