Los Angeles-based dynamic rock duo Tarah Who? announces the global release of their hit track, “Asian Blood,” on April 11. Inspired by the underground feminist punk movement Riot grrrl, which gained popularity in the early 1990s, Tarah Who? ’s new single, “Asian Blood,” is a blazing and thick exposition of fiery and raspy vocals. Co-produced with Jason Orme (Alanis Morissette), Tarah Who? ’s “Asian Blood” highlights the grossly unequal treatment of women in the entertainment industry and how women are often pressured to appear younger in order to gain specific jobs. Its catchy, 90s-inspired sound is also a reminder that time flies – Tarah’s birthday was approaching, and although she is healthy and vibrant, she is plagued by the worry of not being able to achieve her ambitions if she does not act quickly. Carpenter’s lyrics, which highlight how executives will disparage young female entertainers by describing how they don’t grasp the industry while criticizing knowledgeable women for being too old to remain viable, are particularly impressive.
Tarah Who? is a grunge-punk duo composed of glam rock singer Tarah Carpenter and drummer/backing vocalist Coralie Hervé. Tarah Who? is known for its provocative lyrics and energy. Their eclectic discography incorporates inspirations from Alanis Morissette, Nirvana, Spinnerette, and others. Their prior releases, such as ‘Bad Time’ and ‘Push Me,’ earned rave reviews from the majority of critics. ‘Asian Blood’ was mixed by Los Angeles-based Norm Block (L7, Alain Johannes, Girl Friday) and mastered by New York-based Jesse Cannon (The Cure, The Misfits, Limp Bizkit). Carpenter’s deep psychological lyricism and Hervé’s enticing beat carry each song’s essence to its climax.
‘Asian Blood’ will be released globally on April 11. The duo will also release an official music video on that same day, so stay tuned! And for more details, visit Tarah Who? ’s website and Instagram.
