Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan’s last film of2023, has achieved a significant milestone at the global box office. Following the and financial triumphs of Pathaan and Jawan, SRK’s comeback year came to an end with the Rajkumar Hirani-directed comedy-drama Dunki, which starred Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu. In the Bollywood movie, Khan plays Hardy Singh Dhillon, a former army officer who leads a group of people from Laltu to London via the “Dunki” route after they are unable to obtain a visa for lawful immigration to the UK.

Dunki has now made over $50 million at the box office worldwide, according to Collider. The most recent update for the Indian comedy brings Khan’s total box office revenue for 2023 to $320 million, although it still doesn’t compare to the $80 million that the Prabhas-starring Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire brought in. Furthermore, after its theatrical run concludes, Dunki, which is currently the fourth highest-grossing film in SRK’s career, has the potential to surpass the earnings of 2015’s Dilwale and rank third for the Bollywood star.

Shah Rukh Khan Had A Huge Bollywood Year in 2023

Pathaan, the fourth film in the immensely successful YRF Spy Universe, directed by Siddharth Anand, saw Khan make a triumphant comeback to the big screen following a five-year break due to and commercial failures. In the action-packed blockbuster, he also reteamed with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who rose to fame with his role in Om Shanti Om in 2007. A few months later, Khan returned to the role of Pathaan for a brief period of time in Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3, where he freed Avinash “Tiger” Singh Rathore (Salman Khan) from an army prison and is now in Tiger vs. Pathaan, which Anand will also be directing.

Khan directed his second successful blockbuster with Jawan in September of last year. After smashing box office records with Pathaan, the action film became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 and the highest-grossing of Khan’s career overall. Aamir Khan’s 2016 sports film Dangal is the highest-grossing Hindi-language film ever, with Jawan coming in second. In the movie, Vijay Sethupathi’s character Kalee (a weapons dealer) is defeated by Khan, who simultaneously plays the roles of Azad and Vikram Rathore. Critics hailed the film when it came out, and it’s now considered one of Khan’s greatest works to date.

Khan worked with director Hirani of 3 Idiots to bring Dunki to life and competed against Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, directed by Prashanth Neel, at the box office. Neel made his Telugu debut alongside Bahubali star Prabhas, who returned with all of his might after Om Raut’s Adipurush bombed at the box office, following the enormous success of K.G.F: Chapter 2. Dunki lost to Salaar: Part 1’s total revenue at the box office, but Khan’s three films’ combined revenue put him ahead of the pack. Following his most prosperous year to date, the actor reclaimed his title as the King of Bollywood.
